Living That Dream written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
One new year’s morning I was dreaming that
I was writing this song, when I woke up
I just remember the whole song so I wrote it
down as fast as I could.
Lyrics:
I remember growing up
All the boys how we talk so tough
Always together always strong
How we looked out for each other as we went along
Standing tall believing in what’s right
Never giving up without a fight
As we all got older how it all slipped away
Like no one remembers what we used to say
Do you know how it feels or what I mean
It seems I’m the only one left
Still living that dream
I was born in Bucklands Beach
Believing nothing was out of my reach
I started work when I was seventeen
With a focused plan and a master dream
But dreams can die fast in a small town
And it ain’t so easy without your friends around
Do you know how it feels or what I mean
It seems I’m the only one left
Still living that dream
Some dreams die some dreams get lost
But I’m gonna follow mine what ever the cost
Cause I might as well just lay down and die
If I give up now and don’t even try
I know twenty years down the track
What ever happens when I’m looking back
I’ll still have this heart set on the dream
And I’ll never have to wonder what might have been
Do you know how it feels or what I mean
It seems I’m the only one left
Still living that dream

Second Look

Second Look written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
Inspiration for songs seems to come to me from three main activities. Taking a shower, traveling or stuck in traffic. I wrote this song whilst stuck in Auckland motorway traffic. This song is about bumping into my first love again after many years and realizing that I was still blindly love struck and messed up about her. Be careful what you wish for, I thank god for unanswered prayers.
Lyrics:
I must have been real real bad In a past life
To fall in love with you Not once but twice
It feels so right It must be wrong
I’m not weak But the loves to strong
And it pulls me in a Against my wish
Melts my insides with just one kiss
But I wouldn’t change Things if I could
But I beg of you this time heart please be good
Should be made illegal For you to look this good
And after all this time Do you think we should
Open a can of worms That’s been closed for years
When again it could all end in tears
But I feel no fear I’m in heaven above
The only thing I feel for you is love
Yes I’m talking love Like in a story book
So baby baby give me a second look
I never did believe in time machines
But as you know I believe in dreams
And mine all came true About romance
To be here with you and a second chance
And who am I to say It wasn’t meant to be
And who are you to say you still love me
And if your talking love Like in a story book
Then maybe baby give me a second look
Theres a church on the corner Theres an ache in my head
Theres a hole in my soul I’m wishing I was dead
Then you come along And love rescues me
With a light so bright everyone can see
All my friends say oh not again
Oh when when when will you ever learn
Cause they just don’t know They’re all insane
How good it feel to be loving you again
Yes I’m feeling love Like in a story book
So baby baby give me a second look
So baby baby give me a second look
So baby baby give me a second look

Never Felt Like Mine

Never Felt Like Mine written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
For the record I believe in god, he does and will always own my soul.
This is a meticphorical song about selling your soul to your own insecurities and self doubts,
especailly where love and the oppersite sex are involved, sometimes life is a constant war between
the angels and devils inside each and every one of us.
Lyrics:
I sold my soul to the devil
For a little love
I sold my soul to the devil
So I could feel like I was in heaven above
First I went to the angels but they could not give enough
So I sold my soul to the devil for a little love and
She gave her love so freely
She gave me love so fine
She gave herself so completely
But it never, it never felt like mine
She said I like romantic movies
She likes the way they make her feel
Peoples dreams all coming true
And how it seems so real
The feeling I get when I leave the theatre
Like I’m on top of the world
With a dream in my hand
And the true love of a girl
But life ain’t no fairytale and
God knows dreams ain’t free
Sometimes I doubt I have all the strength I need
To be all I want to be
So I sold my soul to the devil
And then their are songs
That always take me back in time
I remember what I was doing when I first heard it
And all those summers so fine and
All those one hit wonders
Well they never did a lot for me and I
Never much liked the songs
But I love the memories
Yes and life ain’t no fairytale and
God knows dreams ain’t free
Sometimes I doubt I have all the strength I need
To be all I want to be
So I sold my soul to the devil
For a little love
I sold my soul to the devil
So I could feel like I was in heaven above
First I went to the angels but they could not give enough
So I sold my soul to the devil for a little love
She gave her love so freely
She gave me love so fine
She gave herself so completely
But it never it never felt like mine
Never felt like mine

Another Dream

Another Dream written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
I wrote this song in Bloomington Indiana, when I was sleeping in a shack out in the middle of nowhere. I was traveling, on a pilgrimage of my musical influences, feeling a bit lonely and home sick. I woke up from a dream where I had just met the girl of my dreams and everything in my life was good again. What a rude awakening.
Lyrics:
I was out sailing with my family
I met you there and you met me
They just left us to it we were getting on so well
Crazy things were happening but I just couldn’t tell
Had I finally found you this girl so fine
Had you finally come along and were you really mine
Nothing was quite as it seemed
As I awoke from another dream
Don’t you hate that imagination running wild
Just to awake feeling like a foolish child
Reaching out for something that you just don’t find
Wanting to go back to sleep
Get the dream back in your mind
I could never handle something that was going so right
Girl, knowing me I’ll screw it up by the end of tonite
But this time I didn’t even get the chance
Blindly lost in poetic romance
Nothing ventured nothing to redeem
As I awake from another dream
Don’t you hate that imagination running wild
Just to awake feeling like a foolish child
Reaching out for something that you just don’t find
Wanting to go back to sleep
Get the dream back in your mind
Awaken from another dream
All these mixed emotions I just screamed!
Mind how can you do this then make me come around
Building my hopes up morning just lets me down
Mind how did you get so mean
As I awake from another dream
Waking from another dream
I had my mind made up got to make this dream come true
But when I wake up there’s nothing I can do

Wild Angel written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
Written when I was in an extremely pissed-off state. The worst part is a friend warned me off her because she was so pure and innocent. Ha!
Lyrics:
Should have known by the devil in your kiss,
That your love would be leaving me feeling like this,
Stupid but I could not recognise,
They were wild angels, not cupids, in your eyes.
When I first met you I thought you were so sincere,
Thought I'd found a love I didn't have to fear,
Your angel looks fooled me pray tell,
Yeah you're an angel baby but you’re from hell.
You're an angel but you're from hell,
Should have known very well,
You had me under your spell,
Yeah you're an angel baby, but you're from hell, now.
When the Lord kicked him out,
Well you should have heard Satin shout,
Took a lot of angels with him,
Down to hell they created sin, Yeah you're one of them.
Trying hard not to act strange,
Got to do something crazy before I go insane,
Lock me up put me in a padded cell,
Protect me from that angel she's from hell.
You're an angel but you're from hell,
You had me under your spell,
Your angel looks fooled me pray tell,
Yeah you're angel baby, but you're from hell.
Should have known by the devil in your kiss,
That your love would be leaving me feeling like this,
Stupid but I could not recognise,
They were wild angels, not cupids, in your eyes.
No one warned me about girls like you,
Run around and leave you blue,
Caught you in bed with my best friend,
That's when my blind love came to an end, yeah.
You're an angel but you're from hell,
Your angel looks fooled me pray tell,
You had me under your spell,
Yeah you're an angel baby, but you're from hell

Out On That Road

Out On That Road written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
I wrote an acoustic guitar blues riff and had some words to it. A friend in my band and I always talked about throwing everything away, going to the USA and driving down Ol' Route 66.
Lyrics:
Too much whisky, too much gin
Too many women asking where I've been
Think I got to, get out on the road
Sure wouldn't mind a friend
Help me carry the load
Too many women, too many fights
Too many staying out late at nights well
That's why I've got to, get out on that road
Well I sure could need a friend
Help me carry that load
Afraid to open the mail, or answer my phone
They can't get me if I’m not at home
That’s why I’ve got to get out on that road
Well wont you be my friend
Help me carry that load
This nowhere highway, ain't no home
This restless heart makes me roam
That's why I've got to, be out on that road
Well sure would like a friend
Help me carry the load
Searching for love if there ain't none around
There’s bound to be some in the next town
That's why I've got to, be out on that road
Well sure would like a friend
Help me carry the load
Yeah just one friend, in the city of strangers
Just one friend, can ease your fears
When your out on, when your out on that road
Yeah won't you be my friend
Help me carry the load

Good Mood written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
I walked in one day and said to my girl , at the time,”
I’m in such a good mood not even you could bring me down.”
A cliche` song about having fun raising hell and not taking life too seriously.
Lyrics:
Stepping out on the town tonite
If I don't get lucky I’m gonna start myself a fight
My boss-man, he's a real mean S.O.B.
But all day long I've had a rebel-ing itch
I'm in a good mood, not even he could bring me down
I'm going out tonite, raise some hell in this town
Going out tonite, dressed all in black
Tie my cheating baby to the railway-track
Your honey is as sweet as can be,
But no woman's gonna make a fool of me
I'm in a good mood, not even you could bring me down
I'm going out tonite, raise some hell in this town
Cruising the streets in my old V8
Pick yah up at six so we won't be late
Knock back some whisky, gonna drink some beer
Get real high, don't you have no fear
I'm in a good mood, not even you could bring me down
I'm going out tonite, raise some hell in this town
Went shopping for my tombstone today
Doctor says that I'm on my way
Well I'm a rocker, baby, through & through
Like nothing better than to rock with you
I'm in a good mood, not even you could bring me down
I'm going out tonite, raise some hell in this town
I'm in a good mood, not even you could bring me down
I'm going out tonite, raise some hell in this town

Yvette

Yvette written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
After a big gig I woke up Saturday morning drank
half a bottle of port, thinking about a girl I’d met
the night before the night before, one night stands
a musician’s life on the road in general.
Lyrics:
This has happened to me so many times
I’ve learned by now, I can’t afford to put my heart on the line
You're no more than a memory to me now
Even though we only met last night
Yvette, you ain’t French, but you sure look pretty
When I saw you in a smokey room through the crowd
You looked at me so innocent and happy
I wanted nothing more, than to take you home that night
Yvette, Yvette, have no regrets
The love we shared last night girl I won't soon forget
Yvette, Yvette, life's too short for regrets
I’m leaving tomorrow
I hope we do stay friends
Time's so short, and true love so rare
Was it a one-night stand, or a one-night love affair
Sometimes I get so lonely, I just need someone to care
The way you held me last night, made it seem so right
Yvette, Yvette, have no regrets
The love we shared last night, I won't soon forget
Yvette, Yvette, life's too short for regrets
And I’m leaving tomorrow
I hope we do stay friends
I hope we can stay friends
Life on the road has its ups and its downs
It often leaves my heart and my head spinning round and round
Maybe some day I'll lay this old guitar down
And come back to your lonely town
(Till then)
Yvette, Yvette, have no regret
The love we made last night, I won't soon forget
Yvette, Yvette, life's too short for regrets
And I must be leaving tomorrow
I hope we do stay friends
I hope we can stay friends
And I’m leaving tomorrow
I hope we do stay friends

Bosses Daughter

Bosses Daughter written by Jesse Wilde copyright 2008
Preframe:
She said every girl would be flattered to have a song written about her. So I wrote this in front of her. It took about as long to write as it does to play. It's a true story of exactly what happened.
Lyrics:
I met her at a party late one night
I bumped into her and I got a fright
Well I was drinking whisky and water
I woke up next morning with the boss’s daughter
I was running around with the boss’s daughter
Foolin’ about with my bosses daughter
I really don’t think I oughta
Just messing about with the boss’s daughter
Well I took her down to the old man’s boat
Rockin’ all night, lucky the thing’s still afloat
Woke up next morning in the marina
Wishing to God I'd never seen her
‘Cause I was running around with the boss’s daughter
Foolin’ about with my boss’s daughter
Well I really don’t think you oughta
Shouldn’t mess about with the boss’s daughter
In the morning I saw her father, my boss
He was on his boat in the berth across
Thought to myself “Jessie you’re in trouble”
Better get her arse out of here on the double
‘Cause I was running about with the boss’s daughter
Yeah, messing about with the boss’s daughter
Well I really don’t think I oughta
Shouldn’t mess about with the boss’s daughter
As all good stories, this comes to an end
Pleased to say me and the daughter, yeah we’re still good friends
Wish I could say the same about me and my old boss
But it was a hell job not much of a loss
That’s what happens when you get caught...
Foolin’ around with the boss’s daughter
Messin’ about with the bosses daughter
Well I really don’t think you oughta
Shouldn’t mess about with your boss’s only daughter
Well I was running around with the boss’s daughter
Messing about with the Boss’s Daughter
I didn't like that job much anyway...
